Description:Merthyr Tydfil to Abercynon resignalled with single-lens LED signals and new double track section installed at Merthyr Vale (double between Troed-Y-Rhiw South Junction and Blacklion Junction - Down Merthyr and Up Merthyr Loop). TCB to Troed-Y-Rhiw, OTW without staff from Troed-Y-Rhiw to Merthyr Tydfil. New platform face at Merthyr Vale on the new Down Merthyr Loop. Abercynon area remodelled, with junction now at Abercynon North. Abercynon North Station closed and new island platform opened at Abercynon South, now renamed Abercynon. Crossovers removed at south end. Turnback facility provided from branches on up platform. Existing signal box closed and new box opened on down side with Westcad in.
